Start with a virtual pre-consultation
If you are not near the practice, contact the office about a live virtual pre-consultation. These run on Zoom, and FaceTime can be accommodated if that is easier for you. They can also be done by submitting photographs or video first.
How the call runs
It mirrors an in-office visit. Maria makes the initial contact, clarifies what you are hoping to address, and reviews your medical history. Dr. Keni then joins, and you get the same conversation you would get in the room — what the operation involves, where the incisions sit, what recovery will ask of you. The one difference is that he demonstrates the incisions and the directions of pull on his own face rather than yours. Then it is back to Maria for scheduling, pricing, and next steps.
That is enough to plan around, and he will say plainly that it is not the same as an examination. If you can come in, you should. There is information in the feel of the tissue that no camera carries.
What to photograph
For facial procedures, photographs should ideally be taken by someone other than you — self-portraits distort the very proportions being assessed. Please include:
- Front view, from the top of the head to the lower neck
- Right side view, from the top of the head to the shoulders
- Left side view, from the top of the head to the shoulders
After Dr. Keni has reviewed them
He will give you an opinion by email, video, or telephone. From there you can decide whether to schedule an in-person consultation. The practice is happy to help with lodging and travel arrangements, and can arrange outpatient care to support you until you are well enough to travel home.
If you are traveling for surgery
Everything that can be settled in advance is settled in advance, so that neither you nor whoever is caring for you is scrambling on arrival. Medical clearance, prescriptions, your post-operative visit schedule and your written instructions are all arranged beforehand. Your pre-operative appointment is typically the day before your procedure.
When you plan how long to stay, work backwards from the post-operative schedule, not the surgery date. For a deep plane face and neck lift that means visits on day one, day three and day ten.
