Is 37 too young for a facelift?

Younger patients increasingly ask about facelift surgery, often after seeing results online. The right answer is usually not the operation they came in asking about.

A facelift treats descent

It releases the retaining ligaments and repositions tissue that has fallen. If tissue has not meaningfully fallen, there is nothing for the operation to reposition, and you get a small change for a substantial recovery.

What bothers most people in their thirties is different: volume loss in the temples or midface, under-eye shadowing, early jawline softening, or skin quality. Those respond to fat transfer, filler, or resurfacing. Not to a lift.

Occasionally the answer is yes

Some patients do have genuine early descent, sometimes after significant weight loss or because of family pattern. Age is not an automatic disqualification any more than it is an automatic qualification.

But a good consultation for a 37-year-old asking about a facelift more often ends with a smaller plan than the one they arrived expecting, and being told you need less surgery is a reasonable thing to want from a surgeon.
