Years of depression, anger, resentment, and inner turmoil can show on your face.
To explain this practically, negative emotions create tension in the muscles which, over time, leads to lines, furrows and other changes.
Although appearances aren’t everything, to continue to age gracefully may require looking within and healing. (Louise Hay has a fabulous book entitled “You Can Heal Your Life” which may be helpful in starting this process.)
There is a quote attributed to George Orwell that states [and I paraphrase]: nature gives us the face we have until age 20, but by age 50 we have the face we deserve.
Whether we truly “deserve” our faces or not, we can begin to take responsibility for aspects of our life that may lead to accelerated aging.
And we can address some of the signs of aging that have already shown up!
